EARN YOUR NEW YORK MARATHON 2007 - Grape Run, 29th October!!!

Fellow EYB Athletes,

The Cape Peninsula and the Western Cape is renowned for its strong running community and it has an abundance of awesome running races from which to choose. There are some beautiful half marathon runs almost every single weekend in the summer and it's an amazing way to experience some of the out-lying areas within the Cape. For the super amped runners or those wanting to get into the vibe, the Runner's World Race Calender link will be a good place to start.

It's also a distance that sets you up with a solid base from which to explore the mighty 42.2km... The Marathon!!!

A recent rumour has been circulating around the EYB Cape Town Community that the experienced EYB'er Stephen 'The Doors Factor' Backhouse has made an inspirational committment towards next year's New York Marathon. It will be his debut Marathon and his inclusion in the EARN YOUR NEW YORK MARATHON 2007 EYB squad will no doubt inspire others to join the experience!

There has even been some inspirational committment by the very first UK-based EYB athlete Carl Husselmann, who will be flying over in November next year with the EYB Cape Town athletes!!

Even though November 2007 is still a long way off, I feel it's awesome to feel a vibe building towards what will be a world class trip for all who are up for it, and all the committment and effort that will be required in the build up.

Fellow US EYB athletes Ashley Martabano (EYB Los Angeles) and soon to be EYB New Yorker (current EYB Cape Town), Cam 'the Aviator' Fuller, will be waiting with open arms for the arrival of the Global EYB 'EARN YOUR NEW YORK MARATHON 2007' team. 'Earn Your 5th Avenue Shopping' supporting athletes will also likely be part of the touring EYB team!

GRAPE RUN HALF MARATHON

For those who are keen to get straight into things there is an amazing half marathon being run here in Cape Town on the 29th October, called the GRAPERUN Half.

It is a race that runs through the historic wine farms of Groot Constantia, Klein Constantia, and Buitenverwachting... and stretches through certain areas of the Tokai forest. These areas are normally restricted to run in so it should be an awe-inspiring session through some of the most beautiful areas in Cape Town.

EYB Cape Town athletes with entries so far are the Kaasenova, Beef, and the Aviator making her debut 21km.
